The optimal time of year for house-hunters is just over the horizon, according to RealtyTrac, which says buyers will land the biggest discounts next month. The company, which analyzed market data from the last 15 years, reports that homes sold in October typically have changed hands for 2.6 percent less than their estimated value. The reason: sellers may be highly motivated and willing to make concessions if they failed to clinch a deal over the summer. At the other end of the scale, homes command 1.2 percent more than their market value in April, making it the worst time to purchase a home. RealtyTrac also calculates that Monday is best for buyers hoping to get a price break, with homes closing on that day of the week typically selling for 2.3 percent below estimated value, on average. | Read More
