According to designer Isabelle Cardinal of Nouvelle Cuisine, heated floors in kitchens have become a top choice for homeowners. Technology has allowed cold tiles to receive heated wood flooring, which has recently grown in popularity. More homeowners are choosing marble countertops, with companies like Silestone and Cesarstone designing a quartz countertop that appears as though it is marble, a practical design that does not compromise functionality. With regard to cabinetry, Cardinal says colorful wood and different textures are mimicking European designs. Another trend is the emergence of overmount sinks while appliances are hidden in cupboards for a less cluttered environment. Cardinal recommends creating a portfolio with pictures of kitchen designs that a homeowner would want prior to selecting a designer. | Read More
