A number of savvy improvements have been unveiled for safer bathrooms required by an aging generation. Remote control toilets, sleek grab bars, and stools that automatically slide out. Automatic faucets have become popular fixtures, as have automatic trash bins that are compacted in drawers. Cupboard doors without handles have also been debuted, as well as toilets with seat warmers, MP3 players, and a remote control. More designs have focused on installing LED lights around cabinets for efficiency and safety. Tubs with protruding seat are useful for individuals with disabilities, as is the Elevance Rising Wall Bath from Kohler that allows the tub to be raised and lowered easily. Bathroom designers say the shift toward these improvements has been made so that older generations feel comfortable in their homes, rather than feeling as though they are using a hospital facility.
