All 50 states saw better conditions in housing markets, according to the National Association of Home Builders/First American Improving Markets Index (IMI) for February. The number of metropolitan areas that improved rose to 259 from 242 in January, which represents six months of expansion. The IMI now covers 361 metropolitan areas; and more than 70 percent of them showed improvement this month, reported NAHB chief economist David Crowe. “Today the story is about how widespread the recovery has become as conditions steadily improve in markets nationwide,” he remarked.
