Experts say now is the time for buyers to start home shopping, as those who wait for summer are left with properties that have been passed over by most other buyers. While Derek Latka, vice president of Realtor relations at the National Association of Realtors, says it pays to list homes early in the season, sellers could get lost in the shuffle of other owners looking to unload their properties. However, inventory remains low, meaning most regions are in the midst of a seller’s market. Regardless of when they list, sellers must be creative and make their homes inviting. “Making your home a relaxing refuge from the unpredictable spring weather will immediately establish positive feelings with potential buyers,” says SpaceWays managing director Rob Rebholz. Weather needs to be an important consideration when holding open houses, and it is important for sellers to have photos taken of the house during peak curb-appeal periods in case the weather is uncooperative. No matter the time of year, homes should be uncluttered, necessary repairs — whether cosmetic fixes or more substantial roof repairs — should be made, paint should be in neutral colors, and even modest updates will generate a return on investment. | Read More
