A Redfin analysis shows that homes fetch 99.1 percent of the asking price when listed on a Friday, compared to 98.4 percent when listed on a Sunday, which amounts to a $5,000 difference on a $500,000 property. The report shows that Friday also is the best day of the week to list, with homes selling within an average of 81 days — faster than those listed on other days of the week. “You get four times the traffic on the day of debut than any other time of the week, and you only get one chance,” says Redfin President and CEO Glenn Kelman. “Soon, you’re yesterday’s news.” Experts say people who work Monday through Friday have a more positive attitude by the end of the work week, and their renewed energy lasts through the weekend and might be responsible for the success of homes listed on Friday. However, homes listed on Sunday seem a bit stale, given that buyers have to wait until the following weekend to schedule a tour. The analysis also shows that homes listed on Tuesday receive an average of 2.41 home-tour requests, which experts attribute to Tuesday being a planning day for many people as they prepare for the upcoming weekend. | Read More
