A new index that tracks permits pulled should shed more light on one of the biggest trends in real estate. According to BuildFax, a Texas-based company that collects and analyzes a range of construction data, the dollar value of home renovation projects has declined significantly, but the number of local permits pulled for various home improvement projects is on the rise.
