A study of more than 1.7 million home listings on ZipRealty’s website found that the term “perfect for entertaining” is used to describe both indoor and outdoor features. When used to describe indoor amenities, it generally means an open floor plan; but outdoors, it could mean patios, decks, pools, or a spacious backyard. ZipRealty CEO and President Lanny Baker says, “With the added appeal of being a place to entertain family and friends, we found that the median listing price of homes increased significantly when the term ‘entertaining’ appeared in the listing description of a property.” The research determined that listings using the term “entertaining” had a median price of $339,000, but those that did not include the term had a median price of just $260,000. “Home sellers may be able to enhance their listing by marketing their backyard, common areas and outdoor spaces,” he explains. “If a desirable home has an empty backyard or outdoor space that hasn’t been put to good use, or hasn’t been marketed in the listing, you may be able to get a good deal on a house that can easily be upgraded to an entertainer’s delight.” | Read More
